I don't think I ever married Lydia, most of the time I married Aella or Mjoll. I find it interesting to become a vampire, marry a werewolf and raise two children. My favorite has always been Mjoll, so much so that I developed several ways to get rid of Aerin. The one I liked most was waiting until I got a black soul gem and using his soul to enchant equipment for her. If you're going to stick around, at least be useful.

I actually use Erindur Faendal Kharjo Jazargo Lydia Jenessa and Brylena as followers basically every play through. Faendal is the guy I take on crawls where I don't really care if he lives or dies, like I don't WANT him to die but I'm not reloading a save for the guy. The others get the reload treatment. Anything outside of them? They are "cool now I have someone to replace Faendal with as a pack mule" basically

You can speed through Helgen pretty quick by jumping out of the tower the moment Alduin breaks the wall, then you can just run the rest you don't have to stop for when he lands either time. Then, just shoulder check through dialogue and run ahead every chance you get (combat time varies ofc) and you'll be out a couple min faster

I could have sworn Mara's Eye Pond was actually a smugglers den, and the smugglers did the stupid of "grave robbing" resting vampires they were hired to transport, which led to the vampires turning the smugglers into cattle (ie mortals for feeding) when they woke up at night and found out they'd been robbed.
